HEARTFELT

Iris Jenkins 1967 (United States)

HEARTFELT

I walked away from you with my head bowed low,
Not wanting to hear what you had to say.
Praying that the tears would not flow,
Your words were brutal and harsh, I couldn’t believe that you would act this way.
You grabbed my hand to pull me near,
I was mad and upset, at that precise moment I really hated you!
But you said, “These were things that I needed to hear,”
You said this was necessary and it was something that you had to do!
You pulled me to you and the look on my face told you that I was very pissed,
You tell me that everything will be alright.
You smile at me and give me a kiss,
After everything is said and done, you promise me that you are my shining knight!
