Nightmare
Tabitha J. Bryson 1973 (Indianapolis, Indiana)
I had a nightmare so vivid
that it awoke me
I saw demons, spooks & spirits
and my mother trying to choke me
I screamed out in terror
as my tears steadily fell from my eyes
the fear so real, the scent of death I began to realize
'was I dreaming' my mind questioned me
'or was I actually remembering?'
I looked around in darkness
for clues to my safety
my heart paced frantically
I heard a sound from somewhere....
'God'..I pray..'please tell me Pam isn't here'
I sense quiet
I don't feel her presence
I guess it was a nightmare
one so vivid
that I questioned reality
if I return to sleep
will she be there
awaiting me
was it a nightmare
or was I remembering?
