Her power
Glyn Roberts 1939 (Cardiff)
Head slightly bowed she sits with book,
Eyes seeming shut from where I stare,
Lips puckered small, brows furrowed look,
Sculpted cheeks flank nostrils flare,
I move, her study now forsook,
Eyes brought alive with tender care,
lips slightly parted, wide with smile,
Red sunlight streaming from her hair,
She spoke and I transfixed awhile,
Then melted in her gaze,
Her head cocked to with puzzled eye,
My eyes strained through a haze,
Her beauty nearly made me cry,
My resolve was all undone,
I held her look, she gave a sigh,
Our eyes were locked as one,
she dropped her head and flushed a bit,
She knew my heart was won.
