Once a Poet, Always a Poet

Damsel Salatan 1997 (Philippines)

A poet is a dreamer and a thinker.

A poet can tell how deeply they feel.

Writing understandable yet sophisticated poems.

I guess, I considered myself a poet—

I will never get tired of searching beauty in madness.

Seeing light in the darkness.

Hoping for happy endings in tragedies.

I'll never get tired of writing poetry,

Crafting our love story.

Rhyming our unfortunate flee

of telling the world that I'm here waiting for thee.

To be a poet,

Is to draw all the feelings

and trade for nothing,

Just a hope of rebirthing everything.
