Analysis of Caesar goes a’wandering
Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)
While Kevin goes a’wandering
The walls of Rome doth burn,
While Caesar is a’blundering
The people live and learn.
They have to learn harsh lessons
About dark facts of life,
The Leader keeps us guessing
If he’ll help us through our strife.
Yes Kevin is a villain
Who cares nothing for the poor,
He thinks it’s rather thrillin’
To see us dying on the floor.
Old Caesar laughs to see us
Writhing from hunger pangs,
He hates it when the people fuss
As he lunges with his fangs.
While Caesar sees the wide world
He leaves Australia alone,
The taxpayers fund his holidays
As we're left here on our own.
Sightseeing is old Kevin's thing
Three-hundred countries in three years,
The walkabout prime minister
Has made his priorities clear:
It's fun for Kev and all else starve
His jaunting costs a fortune,
Still, he doesn't have to pay
It's an all too familiar tune.
He likes to suck the life out
Of the starving hoi polloi,
Even as he snuffs our lights out
The rich shout, ‘Kev’s our boy!’
