Analysis of The Roof Garden Waits On Rain

Tired of ginger ale and cheap red wine
Tossed among its hedges
The roof garden waits on rain
Under midnight clouds reflecting
Noisy canyons red below.
Pre-storm winds elevate
News and Post dispatches
To new heights and elevated places;
Sending six-ounce plastic cups and
Pinched lipsticked napkins fireflying
Full of swizzle sticks and
Toothpick pilots buzzing
The East River reflecting
Next month's Con-Ed's billings.
Sky and windows darken
Someone plays Scriabin
