Analysis of The 9-5 Victim

Isn't it all wonderfully insane
The way we numb our pain
With false truths lined with the things of self worth, self indulgence and self gain
How we fail to realize
that the only real surprise
was that when you look into a dreamers eyes,
the limit lay far beyond the skies.

That a stoner obsessed
with spirituality could be put to the test
and when spoke to about life he could stand with the best,
but no.
Fall in line,
fall away
another bottle of beer or wine
just to face another day
animals have become of us, obsessed with pay,
with money and material things,
these concrete prisons bind us but our soul wishes to sing,
we are blind to the happiness and joy that freedom of shackles can bring.

Discard your memories because they are of a system
that chewed up and spat out people and would never learn to miss them,
for when we all become just another link in the chain, we realise that our lives were a product of self gain
the sun lies beyond your 9-5 desk where the inner doubt pours like rain.

Maybe one day we'll stop, and return to being human once again.
