Analysis of Secret (Villanelle)

I have a secret I cannot tell a soul,
buried in the depths of my heart;
A forbidden love makes me whole.

My face shines like a lighting pole,
she aims at me with her love dart;
I have a secret I cannot tell a soul.

My mind stops playing an active role,
my heartbeat races off the chart;
A forbidden love makes me whole.

Bright future I see in my crystal bowl,
she is so beautiful but also very smart;
I have a secret I cannot tell a soul.

I am happy even if we only take a stroll,
wishing that we never ever part;
A forbidden love makes me whole.

I want her to be mine, that’s my only goal,
cherish all her being like the finest art;
I have a secret I cannot tell a soul,
a forbidden love makes me whole.
