Analysis of Return To My People

I cannot drink away the pain
Of your leaving my people.

Because I spent the best years
Of my life--in your arms,
I will miss you for them,
For as long as my heart
Yearns for Home,
I renounced yesterday--
So I could be with you--in this
Paradise (draped in vari-colored
Blanket of red, white, black,
Brown and yellow), where you
Are always at sunrise.

Before I go to that Place,
Where there is "no sunset and
No dawning," please promise me
That one day, soon--you will
Return to my people.
And when you do, please, please
Leave them "...no more forever."
