Analysis of Not a tear for you

You were standing in the doorway,
When I was only three,
You didn’t have much to say,
But I knew you were leaving me.

I begged you not to go,
But you said it’s just too late,
I never felt so low,
It was then my heart began to fill with hate

You weren’t around to teach me things,
Like how to ride a bike,
 why the little bird sings,
or about all the hobbies that you like ,

I waited and I waited,
For you to come back home,
Years passed and I hated,
All you missed while I’d grown

Always on my birthday,
So sad you were never here,
Id blow out the candles and say,
“Please, let this be my last tear”

Soon that birthday wish would come true,
I never cried again,
Especially not a tear for you.
