Analysis of Like the Sound of Music

Schemes of color, melting pot of our country
Damnation to life of inequality and strife
Nights of talent, unheard of and ridiculed
Blues in the souls of my people dying to break free
Racism and pain can't take control of me.
Yeah, it's hard to be a person of chocolate skin
To comprehend our language with a mind so thin
Unique our sound in mind, body, and spirit
God sent us down so other colors can hear it

Ascension from the depths of shackle and chain
We will fight with music to never hear it again
Our pain is freed when that beat starts beatin'
That crab in the barrel that keeps on reachin'.
Eyes so brown, hair thick like cotton
The song of our people will never be forgotten
Cords ring over the oppression, sorrow, and death
Pride rushes through my body with every waking breath
Music will keep me movin' 'til the day of my death.
