Analysis of Hope!
As a nail
Fastened to a piece of wood,
Its light blinks
On the eye of every man
Faring through this land!
Does it beg?
Never! But, it comes
Hotly when men are down.
Only fools close their eyes
Against this saviour;
And so, they end their journey.
This blissful breeze:
Wayfarers' one companion
Through the thickets of life,
Where dreadful creatures
Parade venomous fangs.
Lose it, you've lost all,
But doom and death:
For the tonic of life is it;
It keeps man alive!
