Analysis of He's a Poem
You're a poem too
A couplet, a haiku
An abridged limerick maybe
You're stuck in the margins
Of a school paper
I was too bored to read
I jotted you down
When I was supposed to compose
a verse for someone else
But he's the kind of rhyme
That started in the middle
And hasn't come back around yet
One I sat down to draft at twenty-one
And won't finish till I'm hopefully
Well over a hundred
A real, illuminated idea
That takes time, revision… a process
Something I want to write
The next line, metaphor, dialogue
Ebbing from pen to paper
Carefully maybe, but easily too
Somehow the pen went askew
Jotting down scribbles where there should have been
A resplendent allegory
And now he's a kind of
‘To be continued', and I
Have writer's block
