Analysis of Epitaph

If I should die without goodbye,
This, I would like the world to know,
That all my hopes, and all my dreams
Were all accomplished. Do not cry.

I did not hope for fame or wealth,
They would not have given me joy,
But now in death, you see me here
I lived a life of rare good health.

Poet and nurse of ailing soul,
Remember me for what I gave,
The rare ability to share
Whatever I had was my goal.

So even as I lay in death,
An undiscovered poet, poor.
I left this world for all to see,
And know my life was not bereft.

Barbara Cadogan

I am a Registered Nurse, and first started to write poetry when I was about 18 years old. I have written several poems on a variety of subjects, and enjoy poems that are light and filled with humor. I feel that a good poem like a painting, is able to evoke a variety of emotions, whether sad or cheerful, angry or sympathetic. My goal in life is to learn as much as I can, and to spread peace and good cheer to many. Above all, to be respectful and helpful to my fellow man. more…
