Analysis of Adulation

Who earns your adulation?
Who earns your deep respect?
"Prophets have great honor" that often is suspect.
To whom do you give homage?
To whom do you give praise?
"Idols have feet of clay" that crumble with a gaze.
Who are your celebrities?
Who are your royalty?
Stars and monarchs that sham deserve no loyalty.
What is your symbolic form?
What is your "golden calf?"
Images have semblance that decline to a gaffe.
Who is your fallacious god?
Who is your sacred cow?
Things that we overstate we shortly disavow.
To whom do you give deference?
To whom do you give awe?
Icons have shortcomings that can "stick in your craw."
