Analysis of A Daughters Wish

Dear Angel of God,

I have one wish both as a child of yesterday and as a woman today

I’m full of questions and the need for answers about a man so young taken far away

I’ve heard so many stories from his family that treasure his memory deeply

A soldier devoted to his country, my father whose memory I struggle to place within me

Six feet tall I know he was from the top of his helmet to the toe of his black shined boots

Proud to be the man he was with deep devotion to the family of his Kentucky roots

A father he was to only one child and I know he loved me with all his heart and soul

That child was left behind at four and his life is a story that needs to be told

I don’t have many memories of my own and that alone is a battle where my heart bleeds

There are so many unknowns I long to have and stories of him his family needs

Full of laughter and eyes of brown, his hair was gold and soft as fields of wheat

The sound of his voice, the smile of his face, a man my heart longs to meet

I wonder often how many hugs and kisses we shared during our short time

What songs did he sing, and tickles of laughter that were only his and mine

Did he bounce me on his knee and brush my hair that was golden like his own

I know we share deep brown eyes, pictures of him shining brightly as for me alone

To love someone that you can’t remember is a true love deep within the heart

Please, Angel of God, tell my father that my love grows each day even though we’re apart

My pride for who he was and what he gave would overflow the deepest blue ocean

So tell him we truly share so much-especially our patriotic devotion

Please take this message on your wings of gold to the man I speak of my hero, my father

I am so much of him, the women who he would remember as only a toddler

We’ll meet again one glorious day, with smiles and laughter at Heaven’s gate

I love you, Dad, and anxiously wait to see you again, no matter how long the journey takes

Watch the movie "We Were Soldiers Once And Young". At the end of the movie, Mel Gibson who played General Hal Moore, walks up to the Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC. The camera zooms in and there with disbelief and overwelming pride I saw my father's name Paris Dale Dusch. It's amazing!
