Analysis of My Girl
Raymond Crocco 1960 (Mississippi)
I met this nice old girl
Prettiest to me it seems
I said why not give it whirl
Definite girl of my dreams
My girl said to me
You’re a decent guy
You’ll be alright
You’re a decent guy
Just move the clouds and let the light shine through
She and I used to talk a lot
I didn’t understand her very well
I always got things tied into knots
But the day our relationship fell
My girl said to me
You’re a decent guy
You’ll be alright
You’re a decent guy
Just move the clouds and let the light shine through
Well Wednesday night came
There was nothing I could do
I loved her just the same
It was too late to do what I had to do.
My girl said to me
You’re a decent guy
You’ll be alright
You’re a decent guy
I’ve moved the clouds and the light shines through.
