Analysis of Loss of Kindness
Alden Sproull 1944 (Penna.)
Kindness is trickling away,
lost in the swift embrace of change,
plowed over by our sense of
insecurity.
We easily hide behind our doors,
not looking over our neighbors’
fences, cars slowly move by, as
paranoia raises its ugly head.
We embrace, as a friend, the fear of
the unknown, holding creative
exploration at a distance, suspicion
has become our password.
Conversations, seldom occur, though
often empty, meaningless exchanges.
Escape, rests at the core of our
interactions, now fearing closeness.
Taking back what has been lost requires
courage, facing the obstacles, creating
honored desires with change of self
and the community.
