Analysis of How

How pathetic.
How sad.
How does it get this bad?
How do I go from man to statistic
Overnight, just a day.
How is it realistic to go on, to stay.
How do I feel again but not feel these things?
How do I smile again, how do I sing?
When the days only get harder, I just can’t go on.
They’ll lie and they’ll say here lies someone
Who was happy, full of life, a brother, a son.
Thinking it over for hours, for days
Thinking of how I will say
I’m done
I’m finished
All light has diminished.
They say it’s darkest before dawn
But what if they’re wrong
What if there is no sun
They’ll say he was happy, the brother and son.
Because you know no one wants to be the one
To admit I cried out, over and over again,
I begged for their help.
They’ll reminisce or good times, as they clear my possessions off shelves
Because then if they admitted they knew I was aching and they left me to myself
How would they live with themselves?
