Analysis of A bucketful

Earth is full of them- that is poets.
Too many to refer to here so reference
Will be restricted to a brief number
Of bards from the poetic soil of Paddy.

Of course Yeats arrives 'Down By The
Sally Gardens' and the 'Lake Isle Of
Innisfree'.

Heaney is there, that is Seamus, in
'Anahorish' followed by 'The Tollund Man'.

Also the blackbird of the Boyne- Francis
Ledwidge- with 'Thomas MacDonagh' and
'June'.

Also a poet of an almost holy triology-
Joseph Mary Plunkett- 'I See His Blood
Upon The Rose'.

To be followed by Padraic Colum's 'The Old
Woman Of The Roads'.

And, of course, there is Patrick Kavanagh 'On
Raglan Road'.

And from far back Thomas Moore gave us
'The Last Rose Of Summer' followed by 'The
Minstrel Boy'.

And then about a century ago Patrick Pearse
Composed 'The Rebel'...

Ah, they are rising like jumping salmon in recall
But as a dance floor can be overcrowded so can
A bucket.

Therefore, I drink a toast to all poets, not forgetting
He or they who wrote the psalms!
