Analysis of Les Larmes du monde

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Dans les yeux de l’Humanité
La Douleur va mirer ses charmes.
Tous nos rires, tous nos vacarmes
Sanglotent leur inanité !

En vain l’orgueil et la santé
Sont nos boucliers et nos armes,
Dans les yeux de l’Humanité
La Douleur va mirer ses charmes.

Et l’inerte Fatalité
Qui se repait de nos alarmes,
Sourit à l’océan de larmes
Qui roule pour l'éternité
Dans les yeux de l’Humanité !
