Analysis of Les Deux Loups

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Bruns et maigres comme des clous,
Ils m’ont surpris dans la clairière,
Et jusqu’au bord d’une carrière
M’ont suivi comme deux filous.

— Jamais œil de mauvais jaloux
N’eut de lueur plus meurtrière !
Bruns et maigres comme des clous,
Ils m’ont surpris dans la clairière.

— Mais la faim les a rendus fous,
Car ils ont franchi ma barrière,
Et les voilà sur leur derrière,
A ma porte, les deux grands loups,
Bruns et maigres comme des clous !
