Analysis of L'Envie
Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)
Paix à ces malheureux Esprits
En qui la Haine s’accoutume
Et dont le destin se résume
À mâcher des venins aigris.
La justice étouffe leurs cris
Et les rabat dans leur écume :
Paix à ces malheureux esprits
En qui la Haine s’accoutume.
Pauvres nains tors et rabougris
Que leur impuissance consume !
Plaignons-les donc sans amertume
Et pardonnons-leur sans mépris :
Paix à ces malheureux Esprits.
