Analysis of Le Solitaire

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Au sommet de la tour étrange
Habite un énorme crapaud.
— Qui peut t’avoir porté si haut ?
Est-ce un diable, ou bien est-ce un ange ?

— As-tu donc trouvé dans la fange
La puissante aile du gerfaut ?
Au sommet de la tour étrange
Habite un énorme crapaud.

— Ne crains pas que je te dérange !
Et, que tu sois bête, ou suppôt
De Satan, suinte à pleine peau,
Heureux comme un rat dans sa grange,
Au sommet de la tour étrange.
