Analysis of Humo

Jose Asuncion Silva 1865 (Bogotá) – 1896 (Bogotá)

Bajo los árboles viejos
cuya sombra el suelo baña
miro perdida a lo lejos
una pequeña cabaña.
Todo en quietud allí vese,
la ventana no está abierta
y el musgo grisoso crece
sobre el umbral de la puerta.
Cual tibio aliento aromado
que el frío condensa en nube
humo tenue y azulado
en espiral de ella sube.
Del alma que allí reposa
noticias a Dios le lleva
el humo que de la choza
en espirales se eleva.
