Analysis of TURNING BACK
Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)
You know it seems the fire died
Hope battles my wounded pride
Can sin topple righteousness Grace?
In shame, Lord, I hide my face
.
Tell me how I start the fire anew,
Surrender my will, desire to You
Show me how to bow my head
Raise my Salvation from the dead
Once my zeal, was a beckon on a hill
Your Spirit ,God, moved me at will
No miracle caught me by surprise
No mystery clouded my eyes
But it seemed to darkness slid I
The Power in my Life I watched for
My enemies surround my Hill
And the living waters seemed to still
Further, Father, I slipped away
Waited later, and later to pray
Figured I'd return real real soon
Many long years I sang that tune
I went farther then I ever thought I'd go
10,000 steps and more I know
I turned around, Lord you were there
A direct and true answered prayer
Lord keep my Heart set on Your way
Lead my steps, Jesus I pray
Keep Your Light on my Path
Show my enemies Your Mighty wrath
Lord I know I turned back
You restored all I lack
Keep my heart in Your Light
Keep my secure in Your might
Help me always to be burning
Let not my eyes be turning
Help me Walk in Your way
Turning to You always I pray
AMEN

About this poem
Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. Redeem me from human oppression, that I may obey your precepts. Make your face shine on your servant and teach me your decrees. Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed. You are righteous, LORD, and your laws are right. Psalms 119:133-137
