Analysis of CLOSED EYES

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

I close my eyes only to watch the fire and not to dream
I sleep with my hands over my heart, not knowing if I will get a fresh start in the morning. What is the taste that lingers on my tongue when I hear the voices that I can not explain while questioning the answers that I only find inside the rainfalls of time that I call the walls of my mind

Another day passes when my face does not seem to be the same when I look inside the looking glass at the past version of me. My eyes are open; no longer can I see

I have been chasing waves and riding racehorses all my life, only to find the course that leads to the path that I am now on.

I have this fever that has me seeing both heaven and hell as I stand on the moon, looking down at these different versions of myself. My eyes are closed, but my mind  can still see

I want to close my eyes to see something beautiful
I want to close these tired eyes to see something to believe in something that will set this gypsy soul of mine on fire while opening my mind to different times
