Analysis of Waiting For the Light
Paul E Wells 1951 (Windsor)
WAITING FOR THE LIGHT
Not much to do all through the night,
Not much to see in black and white,
Where I’m waiting,
I’m there waiting,
For the light!
Passing shadows are like friends,
Some come and go, some never end,
Where I’m waiting,
I’m there waiting,
For the light!
If only life could promise
A safe beginning, a peaceful end,
And patience could deliver
That which time cannot transcend,
And hope was more than a glimmer
Of a softer shade of gloom,
And faith weren’t just a shadow
From a candle inside a tomb
Dawn sings her song into the void,
Where love and longing get destroyed,
Where I’m waiting,
I’m there waiting,
For the light!
When mercy can’t deliver
A grieving tortured soul,
Regret can feel so empty
And stripped of self control,
But if light can kill the darkness
Of a vacant life sucked bare
Then love can ignite the heart and soul
Of a world that doesn’t care
There’s got to be a purpose;
There’s got to be an end,
Hence night is ever fleeing,
For tomorrow e’er comes again
No need to shed another tear,
I’ve met and conquered every fear,
Where I’m waiting,
I’m there waiting,
For the light!
