Analysis of Triad

Robert Rowe 1967 (Agana, Guam)

Said the Shadow to the Paisley Lover
“Where is your Shining Knight?”
“He’s hiding near beneath the cover
Of his cerebral might.”

Said the Shadow man to the Shining Knight
“Where’s your Paisley Lover?”
“Out beyond that hill just past my eye’s sight
Where the moon does hover.”

Said the Shining Knight to the Shadowy One
“We hope that you’ll agree
Without you in our lives it just ain’t fun
Join us and make us three.”

The Shadow, Lover and Shining Knight
The beast did try to part
But their love was strong, their bonds were tight
‘Cause each one’s in each heart.

So said the Shining Knight to the others
“Though we’re not together
I remind myself that we are brothers
And Love is our tether.”

About this poem

This poem really means nothing to anyone but me and the two friends about whom this is written. Many years ago we three found ourselves in a very bad place but our friendship and love for one another helped us get through the tribulation we faced. Though years and hundreds of miles now separate us, we are still the best of friends and would drop everything if one called needing help.
