Analysis of A Man's Plea

Anthony Wayne 1983 (Dallas)

We both knew from the start, Our Hearts were never meant to be apart.

Our love plays like a hit song thats climbing the chart. Our love is like a work of art.

So lets not let our feelings or our love depart. Instead let us both be smart, And just hit restart.

And even though we are both scared, And at times we both feel unprepared. Our love can still be spared.

It just needs a couple rescue flares, some minor repairs. And maybe even a few prayers.

Our love may be a bit weathered. But it will never be severed. So let us both make sure its treasured.

Lets not let anything get in our way. I know it sounds cliche. But our love is way too precious, Way too precious to just throw away.

But let me also convey. That I can, And I will wait. Ill will wait for you to be okay.

And when you're ready. We can get this process underway. We can start our new day. And we can do it the right way.

And since it's impossible for me to be led astray, You, I could never betray. largely because my love for you will always be on full display.

What I really want to say, What I really need to say. If I may. Is please. I beg you. Please stay. Please don't go away.

About this poem

This poem is about a couple who are trying to figure things out. A man who is trying to recover from a bad situation in his life. And at the same time mature enough to show the woman he loves he won't hurt her emotionally ever again. He's afraid of losing her for good.
