Analysis of It’s time to be blessed

When my life seemed to be at its worst, a neighbor said to me
Have you tried Christianity?
As I laughed out loud these words squeezed out
I don’t need to add something new
to make a mess out of it too

So she handed me a Bible and a concordance
The more I read the more it made sense
This is what I need  I believe in this
I was so depressed
Who would have ever guessed
That it was time be blessed

I looked up at God and I began to pray
I said God you have to change the way I live so I don’t feel this  way
And God said to me I’m going to change the way you feel so you don’t live that way

I told him that I’m not perfect so don’t expect me to change
He said  I accept you as you are that’s why I came
I didn’t come for those who are well
but  for those who need my help
He said hold on to me and let me show you what I can do
So I held on tight one step at a time God changed my life
He came through

It’s been 30 years since that day
I said God I have something to say
you are stuck with me because I can’t live any other way
You are my everything I need you
He said that’s okay that’s why I came I will never forsake you

Everyday God still comes through
In every way and  that’s the truth
You won’t settle for less when you have had the best
When you are born again
it is time to be blessed

About this poem

When I was younger I made fun of people who claimed they found Jesus. I thought they were silly for saying that because they didn’t seem to be any different than they were the last time I saw them. Then one day it happened to me.

Lori A. Powell

I enjoy writing. I’ve written 2 children’s books. “Les Lobster” and “Stars are everywhere” I live in the forest where the river meets the ocean. Sometimes it’s easier for me to write than to talk to others. Ironically, I used to be a switchboard operator. I write because it seems right to write. Plus it keeps my mouth from getting into trouble. more…
