Analysis of under the bridge

I walk alone under the bridge.
No one truly knows what lies underneath.
Be it forgotten or forever unknown

Some believe it to be evil,
An old force,  possessing power beyond belief
I walk alone under the bridge.

For it is not the sounds that affect me
The howls of those submerged with grief
Be it forgotten or forever unknown

And it is not the images
As intemperate and violent as they be
I walk alone under the bridge.

Nor is it the shadows
Haunting my every step, offering no relief
Be it forgotten or forever unknown

After all, there is nothing lurking in the corners or crevices
Nothing painted on the walls
I walk alone under the bridge.
Be I forgotten or forever unknown
