Analysis of I'm Just a boy from the hood
Robert T. Davenport 1979 (Newark, New Jersey)
I’m just a boy from the hood
By Robert T. Davenport
I'm just a boy from the hood, where dreams are born,
Where struggle and resilience become the norm.
In the concrete jungle, where hope can be rare,
I navigate the challenges, with a heart full of care.
From the streets that raised me, I've learned to survive,
To keep my head up high, and my dreams alive.
In the face of adversity, I find my strength,
For I am a product of my hood's relentless length.
Through the trials and tribulations, I've grown,
With every setback, a lesson I've known.
I've witnessed the struggles, the pain and despair,
But I refuse to let it define who I am, I swear.
I carry the stories of my neighborhood's past,
The resilience of its people, who forever last.
Their struggles and triumphs, etched in my soul,
Fueling my ambition, to reach my ultimate goal.
I may be just a boy from the hood, it's true,
But I'm filled with dreams, like any other youth.
I refuse to let circumstances dictate my fate,
I'll rise above, and break free from the weight.
For the hood has taught me, to never give in,
To fight for my dreams, and let my light begin.
I'll be a beacon of hope, for those who come after,
Inspiring them to rise, and shatter every barrier.
So, I'll wear my hood with pride, for it's a part of me,
A reminder of the strength and resilience I see.
I'm just a boy from the hood, with dreams so grand,
And I'll make my mark, leaving footprints in the sand.
