Analysis of You Can’t Hurt Me

You Can’t Hurt Me 1988 (Providence, RI)

WHEN YOU WOULD YELL, I'D JUST STAY SILENT, CAUSE IF I SPOKE, THEN YOU'D GET VIOLENT.
WHEN YOU'D COME CLOSE, I STAYED ALERT, YOUR HITS WERE HARD, YOUR WORDS WHAT HURT.
EACH DAY GOT WORSE, I BELIEVED EACH LIE, YOU'D PUT ME DOWN AND YOU’D MAKE ME CRY.
TO EVERYONE ELSE, YOU'D PUT ON A SHOW, BUT BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, THEY'D NEVER KNOW.
I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME, SO I’D ALWAYS STAY,
MY HEART SO TRUSTING, WOULD HAVE TO PAY, I WISH I LEARNED SOONER, I WISHED I KNEW, MY LIFE IS BETTER, WHEN I’M NOT WITH YOU!
