Analysis of Sinful

Annelies Retzlaff 1995 (United States)

I envied your lips, so stole them from you,
and stored them on a pike of shame,
as the town gathered to witness
the flaying of our name.

They started to scream their protest,
and pulled out what’s within,
as muddled voices demanded
the facing of our sin.
