Analysis of Rightly to know God
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I am writing these things,
So that you may not sin;
Righteousness that it brings,
To build your discipline.
We have an advocate,
That has been Jesus Christ;
That we communicate,
To the Father as thus.
He propitiates sin,
Not just you but the world;
His Spirit cleans within,
Where corruption unfurled.
By this, we come to know,
If we keep His commands;
And through Christ, He will show,
The right way through His hands.
You will be a liar,
If you say you know Him;
Your tongue is on fire,
Your Law knowledge is dim.
The truth is not in you,
Not keeping in His Law;
As you earthly pursue,
Getting another flaw.
Whoever keeps His Word,
His love has perfected;
Adhered to what you heard,
His Law not neglected.
If you abide in Him,
You walk in the same way;
And never to feel grim,
No urge to go astray.
