Analysis of Share Love

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

The wind blows and the story goes
There is no love to be found anywhere
The site for sore eyes is
Moistened with tears
Empty hands with no embrace
Deception and manipulation
Play with hearts like dice
The heat of suffering is so loud
No one hears it in the breeze;
Why do I bother waiting?

One love proved its mettle on a cross
Another found it beneath a tree
Sitting in silence harming no one
I read the stories as if my own
Were lived and written
In their flesh and blood
So why look elsewhere
In the arms of those who know nothing,
Who preach prosperity gospels
Without spelling the word in actions?

I see love in the grandeur of the stars
Spread as infinite as eternity
All across the universe
Light confetti rippling in the night sky
And proof enough I am not alone
The vibe of love is in us all
We are made of star stuff
When we give it to ourselves
Someone smiles and says
Share your love and find yourself.
