Analysis of Color of the Sky

Kimberly Tenold 2008 (Missouri)

Reading poetry I wrote for you
Notes that had me crying in the dark
Songs pulling at my heart
Lyrics I wish could've been me and you
Memories and daydreams
Days that I can't help but think of the used to be
At this point I wouldn't care if I was a lie
Just tell me how much you need me
Late at night drinking your sweat tea
Goodnight I want to hear as long as they don't mean goodbye
To be reckless just don't make me remember
The time I spent getting tore down
Screaming for you out loud
Saying I lost the best I've ever had
"Sweet dreams baby" and smiles now mean nothing
The pain I feel always knows how to beat me
Tryna suppress the reminisce
All the things that happened
I wish they weren't habit
Let me go because you're in my head
Too bad it isn't my bed
Why'd your eyes have to match the color of the sky
It's a good thing I prefer the night
