Analysis of Farewell

So much for what was once was a life of joy
So much for waking with a smile to greet the sun
When rising now only sadness on my face
No sun arises from out in space

Where once a smile would greet the morn
Where once to the brim the cup of joy was filled
Where once the day was full of laughter and play
Where once a bright future seemed my way

So many friends but only one true love
And life seemed blessed by the peace of the dove
A talent bold and of many ways
Would secure a future for many many days

No dream or thought of dreadful days
Ever appeared before my eyes
With vision clear I moved along
Adding verse after verse to my life’s song

And then one day without my knowing
It seems my world crashed without a warning
The dove had flown away for good
And left me lifeless as a statue of wood

A heart now bleeding day after day
As joy and peace and happiness all fade away
A soul that cries out for restful bliss
A mind scarred by life’s cruel twists

Farewell to times of fun and joy
They’re faded memories of the past
Farewell to mornings of bright sunshine
Only gloom and cloudy skies are mine

Farewell to friends so close and true
It seems I can’t remember you
Farewell to you sweet world I loved
You’ve left me long ago

Farewell, farewell, my end I know!
