Analysis of Quest for Closure

Beneath the deep underbelly of glitter and glam, there lives a city that's stuffed and ribbed
The boy who left when he was 7, came back to see the home where he had hitherto lived
He remembered how he clasped his tiny fingers around his father's thumb
As they bustled through an old market - the souq where for the pigeons, they threw breadcrumbs

The souq was gone, the pigeons had flown far away... where there was a temple now lies a block
...of concrete and glass, courtesy the new found money
In those parks, that they uses to flock
A distant memory, one that he cherished in the palms, green and sunny

Every street told him a story, every building was a page in the book...
Books that remain, nothing but a distant memory
Of the days of their lives....
 every corner, every nook
And as he wondered on a day, hot and simmery

"What if I just looked for him among the crowd, just a gentle search ?"

He set off on a quest, to find his long lost father
Through the bustling streets and crowded alleys he wandered
With every face that he passed, he hoped to see a glimmer
Of the man he once knew, his heart filled with a fervor

But as the sun began to set, and the day turned to night
He realized that his search was in vain, and he felt a sharp bite
Of disappointment and sadness, as he accepted the truth
That some things are lost forever, and cannot be found in youth

With a heavy heart he returned, to the city of concrete and glass
But with a newfound appreciation, for the memories of the past
For though they may be gone, and the city may have changed
The memories will always remain, and cannot be rearranged

And so he left the city, with a sense of closure and peace
Knowing that sometimes the search, can bring a sense of release
For though he did not find his father, he found a part of himself
And in that realization, he found the strength to be himself.
