Analysis of Lifeline

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

You throw me a lifeline
When I am drowning in a deep sea
When all hope is lost
And I am falling beneath the waves
You jump in to save me
The perfect rescue
In the shape of grace
Undeserved favor
So unconditional
I reach out
And you pull me to safety.

You of all people get me
Pulling me up from the despair
So cold, dark and lonely
If not for you
I disappear from view
Insignificant
And by your hand
I am fully restored once more
Able to raise my head
Smile at the sun
And laugh at my demise.

You are manifested love
As incarnate as the cool breeze
I may not see you
But I definitely feel you
You come right on time
When others fail to show up
You keep your word
In the face of my enemies
Energy surges
You fight through me
And I live again in power!
