Analysis of Gaslight

Jordane Garrity 1994 (Alaska)

You must have a heart made of steel
To deny to me what I feel
That you don't understand what was the big deal
Telling me to explain and relive the painful Ordeal
Just for you to tell me I don't know what is real
I know what I went through sounds so Surreal
Even while living it, it felt so Unreal
Forgetting the truth would have been ideal
I was too ashamed to want to squeal
But just like the bruises, the truth was hard to conceal
Your so disrespectful to pretend it's a shocking reveal
Stop trying to make up a believable appeal
Your denial of the truth is rather puerile
Accept what you did and deal
Please stop this hamster wheel
I know you know what is real
So show me some respect for how I feel
And allow me the chance to heal
