Analysis of Two Days Before
Two days before
we spoke.
Two days before
I saw you.
Two days before
I should've seen it.
The way you set it up;
you threw the perfect party,
(with the last of your money).
You told us how you loved us,
apologized for everything-
and anything,
(through slurred, drunken words).
You tried to prepare me,
told me to look out for the kids.
I should have seen it coming.
I could have told you that
it's okay.
That you had nothing to apologize for.
I could've told you that I'm not ready to look out for the kids,
I'm not even able to look out for me.
I could've prevented it.
I should've prevented it.
And believe me,
if I could start all over tomorrow,
I'd only remember to tell you
I love you
two days before.
