Analysis of The Pressures of Greatness

Title: The Pressures of Greatness

The tormenting pressure that exists
In the heart of a woman who insists
That she will not shrivel up in a tomb of silence
She’s come in the name of peace—never violence
In her hearts ears her ancestors ring
Her soul bares the dream of Dr. King.

By all means necessary
She’ll oppose those who are contrary
To the telling of her untold story
God’s designer original—to be used for his glory
No more being fearful or perplexed
She holds on her tongue the boldness of Malcolm X
The motivation of the phenomenal Maya Angelou
Who showed her the power of what words can do.

James Baldwin once spoke about a great solution
He mentioned the words “LOVE REVOLUTION”
Her heart pains for our leaders who’ve been slain
It appears today that they’re none who remain
As the seasons transition with the blink of the eyes
With determination to be heard before she dies
To be the change she needs to see
Her heart and her words, her only liberty.

Ida B. Wells—taught her the light of truth!
Thurgood Marshall—that she’ll need some proof!
Harriet Tubman—to decide to be FREE!
Frederick Douglass—to speak up, so they can see!
John Lewis—told her to be “GOOD TROUBLE”
And Now here she is to Burst America’s bubble!
—Pop!
