Analysis of No Longer Sad

When the night was darkest
It was your face I saw,
And when to be alone I wanted
Your smile my soul it hunted,
But my heart was unsure.

It beckoned at me
But my mind was not at ease,
Then, I felt it!
A feeling, creeping closer to my feet;
Startled, I stepped backward a bit
It crept forward still
I tried hard to resist
It swept me off my feet
I surrendered to the wave
I am carried away.

My heart was full of scars
Until you showed me the stars,
And now you watch the stars with me
I am no longer sad.
