Analysis of Right there

Abisola Atere 2007 (Ilorin)

Back to the creek where we met
4 years and I'm  back again
Without you here
but I still feel you here

It's been a lonely 6 months now since you've been gone
Going through all our photos and wearing your old clothes is all I can think of to keep our memories, your memory alive

I still remember the way
your hopeful hazel eyes kept looking in mine
The way your sparkling smile illuminated the sky
Hiding all the pain you felt inside
How could I have missed that sad smile?

Right there, I would've held your hands in mine
Right there, would've told you it'd be alright
That the pain would pass and the scars would fade
If that hadn't been the very last day

Would've looked you in the eye and told you we would dance
Underneath the very stars every night
With your head on my shoulder and my hand round your waist
If it hadn't been the your last day

Right here right now I'm cursing your name
Screaming to the open heavens why you chose to leave
Remembering every word you said to me
Promising you'd never leave

We swore we'd travel the world
We swore we'd both grow old
Hand in hand in rocking chairs
Both sipping on some bushells

But now you're long gone
And oh
How I wish I was there to
See you smile for the last time
Before you drew your last breath

Won't see your eyes no more
Won't see your smile no more
And all the pain you once felt
Has vanished into thin air

No more dancing under the stars
Your head no longer on my shoulder
At least I hope you're in a better place
Hopefully resting in peace

And If I had known it was time for you to pass
I would've been there on your very last day...
