Analysis of Darkest Reaches

In the darkest recesses of my mind
I have buried it all
All the things I hope for no one to find
And once a while I get the gall
To peek into the darkest reaches of that sea
But I look not too long for fear I see
Myself being dragged into the inescapable abyss
Of the side of myself that scares me
And threatens to take over one-day
Hands reaching out to drag me in glee
Join us, be part of us, we are one they say
But I hold on to the last strings of sanity
Which sustain me until I can feel myself again
Breathe a breath of fresh air away from unrestrained human eyes
Away from all judgemental fingers
Away from the accursed opinions of people pretending to know me
