Analysis of THIS IS ON THE ONE

Cornell G. Mack 1955 (Washington DC)

This is on the one you just wait and SEE
Every word you're about to read was written by ME
I've lived every instance from the beginning to the END
It was just a matter of time before I'd WIN
I've been through a lot that I can't DENY
all of the things that I've gone through I sometimes question WHY
Life is funny but it works itself OUT
I've had some real hurting times let there be no DOUBT
This is on the one you just wait and SEE
Every word you've been reading really happened to ME
I've had some bad luck and some of it was GOOD
I wouldn't change a moment it even if I COULD
As you'll find out I've paid my DUES
Don't you think it's about time that I receive some good NEWS
Life has some funny tricks and some were played on ME
If I hadn't gone through the bad times I wonder where I'd BE.
I'm grateful for the experiences and I've learned a great DEAL
how to laugh how to cry and how they both make you FEEL
this is on the one and I know you'll AGREE
I'm not finished yet God still has plans for ME
These writings are for your pleasure and I'm sharing them with you NOW
They are my life's treasures theirs more stick AROUND
A few setbacks will never bring me DOWN
As long as I know in my heart the truth is what I've FOUND
I say this is on the one because this is what I BELIEVE
Anything I want out of life I know I can ACHIEVE
You only go around once in this life at least that's what I've been TOLD
Knowing that I can make things happen is the only thoughts that I HOLD
If I don't believe in myself who else WILL
I'm only expressing to you exactly what I FEEL
