Analysis of I am growing...

I was born as daffodils
With the same resilience
Bringing a sprint of hope.
I was coloured blood red
and my skin was imparting
the shades of pink.
The first attire covering me naked
Was my mother's shawl
And the second was a Barbie dress
to content my father's wish.
In a couple of years,
I realised I am not the same as my sister.
Later, I acquired the variance between
the dolls and the bikes
I started siding me from badminton court
To cricket grounds.
Now, I know I am superior
as I am melanin and not pink
And my sister is the one suppressed
as she is melanin and not pink
Reaching the adolescent, I learnt
What a vagina and what a penis mean
These days, I am growing and
I need a feminine soul to pave my
Masculine lust into.
Now the question is
Am I growing older or just ageing with society?
Whatsoever,
We say we are growing older
and sooner we'll dye
but this time not with lilies.

About this poem

This poetry is a portrait of how we grow. When we are born, we knew no differences between the genders and social discriminations. And with our ageing, we start acquiring knowledge about the feminine and masculine. At the last, it is shown how the masculine behaviour plays role in now-a-days by rape and abuses..
