Analysis of Not The Picture
Sally Rawhey 1974 (Cairo)
We are not our pictures
We are the emotions that painted the smile
The tear that flood when we reconcile
The handshake that lingers for a little more while
The unspoken feelings in the heart that we pile
We are not our pictures
We are every dream we refused to give away
Every fear in our heart that with hope we could slay
We are every battle lost yet found to ourselves a new way
We are every time we tumbled and stood up believing we’re ok
We are not our pictures
We are the love glittering in our children’s smiles
We are the nod we affirm with to our elders that they’re forever wise
We are the belief that there is no separation even if a loved one dies
We are the dreams that life harshly scatters
yet we mend and rise
We are not our pictures
We are the inside that souls may see
But not through eyes..
